Head of Product and Sourcing
Rachel Okonkwo
Rachel runs sourcing and product development at QuidBuys. She spent nine years at a mid-market British retailer running knitwear and jersey programmes before joining in 2021, and has audited factories across Portugal, Turkey, Vietnam and Bangladesh.
She signs off every fabric in the range and owns the five-wash test that samples have to survive before they go on sale. If a product page quotes a GSM or a shrinkage figure, Rachel measured it.
What she writes about
Fabric composition and behaviour, factory auditing, garment construction, and why a price is the number it is.

The end of the mid-season collection
Six drops a year suits a marketing calendar. It does not suit anyone's wardrobe.
-
Corduroy is back, and the wale count matters
An 8-wale and a 21-wale corduroy are barely the same fabric. One drapes, the other does not.
-
Caring for knitwear so it lasts a decade
Most jumpers are not worn out. They are washed out, and usually at the wrong temperature.
-
Sizing up or down: a practical rule
Between sizes, the fit name on the label tells you which way to go more reliably than the measurements do.

How to read a fabric composition label
A 95% cotton, 5% elastane label tells you more about how a garment will age than any marketing copy on the swing tag.
